Doug Wimbish Euro 4 Signature Model – Experience Doug’s iconic 1987 NS-2.

In 2024, Spector unveiled the Doug Wimbish USA Signature Series which celebrated the impact and legacy of Doug’s iconic Spector instruments. Now, Spector is proud to introduce the newly refined Doug Wimbush Euro 4 Signature Model with specifications taken directly from Doug’s 1987 NS-2. This model has been carefully specified to match the unique properties of Doug’s instrument, including a slim neck carve, narrow nut width, distinct pickup locations, and custom-wound EMG pickups, voiced alongside Doug’s originals.

The Doug Wimbish Euro 4 Signature Model will be available in two distinct colors: Amber Stain and Black Stain – both with a high gloss finish. Additional specifications include maple body wings with genuine figured maple tops, rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl crown inlays, gold Spector hardware, and Spector’s recently developed Legacy Preamp which offers the classic, 1980s inspired 2-band EQ.

For a limited time only – the Doug Wimbish Euro 4 Signature Model will be available in an aged finish option that mimics the unique wear patterns present on Doug’s actual 1987 NS-2. This special instrument will feature a nitrocellulose finish that has been carefully aged by hand in our European workshop for the perfect broken-in feel.

My Doug Wimbish Euro 4 Signature Model is absolutely stunning - visually, sonically and with the feel of my original '87 NS-2 Spector 4-String. The stars aligned on this new model - everything came together. I knew instantly when I played the first note on this model that we had a winner! I couldn't be happier - what a wonderful instrument.

Signature EMG Pickups

The Doug Wimbish Euro 4 features custom EMG pickups meticulously wound to match Doug's '87 spec. These pickups not only offer the vintage EMG tone that Spector fans have come to know and love, but also feature the period-correct EMG logo from the late 80's.

Custom Neck Profile & Narrow Nut

The most distinct feature of Doug’s 1987 NS-2 is the neck profile, which was carefully carved to be as thin and fast as possible. The neck on the Euro 4 DW features the precise measurements from Doug’s vintage bass. Additionally, both Doug’s NS-2 and the Euro 4 DW feature a 1.5” narrow nut width.

Neck-Thru Construction

Neck-thru construction is a key element of the classic Spector style and Doug’s sound. It allows for effortless playability and a pronounced mid-range response.

Spector Legacy Preamp

Designed in collaboration with Darkglass Electronics to deliver the classic 'Spector growl' heard on countless iconic recordings over the years supplemented with modern versatility.

Rotosound Strings

A longtime user of Rotosound Strings, Doug insisted his signature Euro model come from the factory with his preferred Swing Bass 66 stainless steel strings. These strings are bright, punchy, and perfect for Doug’s high-energy sound.

Designed with Doug

Every aspect of the Doug Wimbish Euro 4 was developed with Doug’s input. His deep connection to his vintage NS-2 is reflected in the precise details of this new Signature Model.
