Due to some confusion regarding setting the relief
on our
Europe Series Basses™ we would like to
clarify the following important truss rod
information.
IF YOUR EURO BASS HAS A TRUSS ROD WITH A 5mm NUT
IT IS SINGLE ACTION.
USA SERIES:
Dual action
EUROPE SERIES:
Any Europe Series Bass with 5mm truss rod
nut is single action

We will be
switching all of our Euro Models to Double Action
Truss Rods shortly.
To loosen
your guitar's truss rod, with the fingerboard facing
you, carefully turn the truss rod adjustment nut to
the left. Lefty = Loosey - Righty = Tighty.
When your truss rod is completely loose, the
neck should be straight with no curve. We
will call this
Zero Degrees of Relief.
Back Bow
is also called Negative Degrees of Relief
Standard Relief
can be measured in Positive Degrees of Relief.
It is very unusual that one of our neck-thru
models will need negative relief. If you need
to adjust your SINGLE ACTION truss rod
for Back Bow, please follow these instructions
carefully.
WARNING: Over-tightening your truss rod can
break it. This will void your instrument's
warranty. Please take caution when adjusting
your instrument's truss rod.
- Remove the Strings.
- Remove the Truss Rod Cover.
- Loosen the Truss Rod with the appropriate
5mm Hex Key Wrench until the neck is at Zero
Degrees Relief and the truss rod is free from
the neck.
- Carefully remove the truss rod from the
neck, make sure to note which side of the truss
rod is facing you, you can use a sharpie to make
a mark on the truss rod nut.
- Once free from the neck,
ROTATE THE
TRUSS ROD 180 DEGREES and carefully
reinsert it into the neck.
- Thread the truss rod back into the neck
slowly to ensure you do not misthread it.
NEVER FORCE THE TRUSS ROD.
- Carefully tighten the truss rod until the
amount of BACK BOW is achieved.
BE
CAREFUL TO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE TRUSS ROD.
If you are not comfortable with this procedure,
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADJUST your truss rod. Use
our DEALER LOCATOR for the nearest
SPECTOR®
Dealer near you or take your guitar to a qualified
luthier.
