SPECTOR THROUGH THE YEARS:
1998 - Present (The Woodstock Years)
|
|
"Focus and
Forward Momentum... the best is yet to
come." |
With
the
SPECTOR®
Trademark safely back in his
possession, Stuart wasted no time
focusing on the model that has in
itself become synonymous with the
SPECTOR® name;
the
NS-Bass™.
The mid-2000's saw another
large shift in popular music trends.
Although there were still many
mega-acts doing large stadium tours,
many successful bands opted for
smaller venues to provide a better
audience experience.
A
new generation of musicians moved to
the forefront of the music scene and
they rejected what they felt to be a
"formulaic conformity trap"
concerning the way the industry had
been run in the past. These
bands grew huge followings and they
didn't care if the critics liked
their music, they only cared if
their fans did. It was the
quality of their sound that was most
important to them; and
SPECTOR® would
become a favorite of many of these
"rebels with purpose". |

SPECTOR®
NS-4™ 30K-BC
When
a pre-historic cypress log was found
perfectly preserved deep in a
Georgia sand quarry, Stuart knew what
had to be done with it. This
is believed to be the oldest wood
ever used in the construction of a
musical instrument.
Carbon
radio dating placed the wood at
31,970 years old, plus or minus 570
years from the time the tree was
originally felled, while the tree
itself may have been as much as
1,000 years old at that time.
Ornamentation on the
NS-4™ 30K BC was a single 12th fret
marker made from fossil mastodon
ivory, fashioned in the shape of a
mastodon, cut, inlaid, and hand
engraved by master inlay artist,
Larry Robinson.

Musicians like
Robbie Merrill of Godsmack embraced
SPECTOR®
because of the unique mixture of
high-end components,
attention-detailed construction and
the unique tonal quality that has
come to be known as "The
SPECTOR®
Sound".

A new
generation of serious young
musicians have found
SPECTOR®
to be an ideal solutions provider
for their sonic needs.
Mike
Kroeger, founding member and bassist
for the incredibly successful band
NICKELBACK,
approached us regarding specific
customizations that would affect the
tone of his basses. This
collaboration has resulted in the
SPECTOR MK-5 Bass™, and
a new evolution of the
SPECTOR®
Sound. |
With
PJ Rubal helping him handle sales
and artist relations, Stuart was
able to focus on further refinements
to the
NS-Bass™.
New touches were added like abalone inlays,
intonation screws for quick
intonation adjustments on the famous
SPECTOR®
Locking Bridge, and new
bolt-on
versions of the
NS-Bass™
evolved from designs he experimented with
in the early 1980's.
With sales of the Czech Republic
made
EUROPE SERIES BASSES™
taking off and sales of the
Korean-made
PROFESSIONAL SERIES BASSES™
increasing steadily, demand for the
USA
SERIES BASSES™
continued to outpace expectations.
PJ kept hearing from many artists
and players that they wanted a
USA
SERIES™ model but
because these basses are hand-made
to order, their premium price was
beyond their comfort level. PJ
brainstormed with Stuart and the
FORTE LINE of USA SERIES BASSES™
was born. Stripped down, no frills
but with the same construction detail
and tonal quality
as the fully-loaded
USA MODELS™, the Forte
brought
SPECTOR's® flagship
USA
SERIES BASSES™
within the price range of the
non-professional player. |
