"What's In
A Name?" |
Since 1976,
Stuart Spector has
been designing and building what many
consider to be some of the finest stringed
musical instruments in the World.
Through the years his efforts to build high
quality, exceptional electric bass guitars
and electric guitars has taken many forms.
From his small Brooklyn, NY workshop in the
late 1970's to becoming a division of Kramer
Guitars in the 1980's and then the decade
long fight to win back the rights to make
guitars using his own name after Kramer's
sudden and unexpected failure in the 1990's;
Stuart has never given up his very special
version of the American Dream.
In its
current form,
STUART SPECTOR DESIGNS, LTD.
of Saugerties, New York, is a small
manufacturing company which makes electric
bass guitars and electric guitars with
operations on three continents; North
America, Europe and Asia. The
company's principals are Stuart Spector and
PJ Rubal. |

with which to build guitars or working in
the
SPECTOR® Woodstock Workshop building instruments, you can find
him playing keyboards and electric guitar

Director and Artist Relations
Though the
1980's PJ was the bassist in several East
Coast regional bands. He discovered
SPECTOR®
basses early and became an avid collector,
scouring the music stores and pawn shops of
the Northeast looking for new
SPECTOR®
basses
to acquire.
Through his love
of Stuart's work, he eventually met and
befriended Stuart. This led to him becoming a regular
visitor to Kramer's NJ factory. By the
time Kramer folded and closed it's doors,
Stuart had become tired of the corporate
world and wanted to take a break.
When Stuart decided to restart
SPECTOR®,
PJ was anxious to be a part of the company.
PJ took over many of the day-to-day
management tasks
so that Stuart could focus on making the best guitars possible. |
His partnership
with Stuart would see
SPECTOR®
quickly surpass its previous successes and
grow into a very stable and
respected company known throughout the World
as an innovator in quality instrument design
and construction.
When he's not on the
phone, texting, emailing, or meeting with
any number of the hundreds of professional
musical artists who play
SPECTOR®
instruments or with the dozens of dealers
who supply
SPECTOR® guitars to the public,
you might find him working up a sweat on his
bicycle for he's an avid cycling enthusiast. |
